Old Door

There are many old doors in historical regions of traditional cities in Iran, like Yazd!
You see 2 door knockers on the door! A door knocker is an item of door furniture that allows people outside a house to alert those inside to their presence. A door knocker has a part fixed to the door, and a part (usually metal) attached to it by a hinge that may be lifted and used to strike a plate fitted to the door, or the door itself, making a noise. The struck plate, if present, would be supplied and fitted with the knocker.

Door knockers are often ornate, but may be no more than a simple fitting with a metal bob or ring.

Old door knockers in Iran are in 2 types! 1 for men(You see at the right side of photo) and 1 for women(you see on the left side)! The masculin door knocker is rigid and heavy that makes a strong sound. People inside the house will informed that a man is behind the door! The womanly door knocker is curly and ring like that makes a lighter sound. it informs the people inside the house that a woman is behind the door! That trick was because of Islamic Orders that women should be private from men except their intimate ones!
