Tekyeh Amir Chaqmagh, Yazd, Iran

Posted by Soodabeh (Yazd, Iran) on 15 June 2007 in Architecture and Portfolio.

A Tekyeh is a place where Shias gather to mourn the killing of Husayn bin Ali.

Such places are particularly found in Iran. They are usually traditionally designed with observable elements of Persian architecture.

Tehran is said to have had up to 50 Tekyehs in the Qajar era.

This is Tekyeh Amir Chaqmagh, also called as Amir Chaqmagh Complex, located in Amir chaqmagh Square in Yazd, Iran.

P.S: 1- Thanks to all of you, my dear friends all around the world for your encouragin kind comments during recent 14 days that I shared my Persian Silk Carpets Series.
That's always nice to read your expressions and interpretations.

2- One of my best Iranian friends now live in Malaysia to study as a master software engineering student. She is so homesick and now has a blog in Am3. I ask you, my dear friends, to visit her blog if you interested and leave comments for her! She'll be so happy. Her name is Maryam and her blog is http://maryami.aminus3.com
Thanks.
